These California homeowners really wanted to open up their kitchen and enlarge it to better accommodate their family of four and frequent guests. Inspired by the Tuscan display in South Bay Design Center’s showroom, they hired the company’s Loriann Savarese, CKD, to bring the look home.

By removing the wall between the existing dining room and kitchen and adding a bay window, Savarese doubled the size of the kitchen. This also allowed her to incorporate oversized appliances, including a 48-inch range; two 36-inch all-fridge, all-freezer; and a 30-inch tall oven/microwave/warming drawer combination.
Keeping with the Tuscan aesthetic, the cabinetry is maple with an applied-molding door style in a sage finish with a coffee glaze, and the island is cherry in henna charcoal glaze finish. Carved moldings and decorative legs add a furniture feel, with the rope detail repeated in the legs, tall pilasters, and crown molding. Additional special features include a mural, roll-out trays, appliance garages, a pot filler by the range, a built-in coffee machine, and a large pantry. The whole kitchen is finished off with the Versailles pattern travertine flooring, which further authenticates that rustic Tuscan look. Learn more about this designer at www.southbaydesigncenter.com.
