In Tybee Island, Georgia, Lannie and Stacye Smith Jarrell own and run Oceanfront Cottages, a large vacation rental company serving this small island marked by sea oat-covered sand dunes that back the beach. When not hosting their own family and friends, the couple entertains out-of-town guests to promote their vacation properties as well as the uniqueness of Tybee Island and nearby Savannah.
The only kink in their world of recreation and relaxation was their kitchen. They envisioned a design that could capture the character and match the charm of their laid-back resort town while accommodating their steady flow of guests that come and go with the tides. To bring their vision to life, the couple called on designer James L. Woods of Daniel Kitchen and Bath.
To make large-scale gatherings feasible, Woods created a true catering kitchen equipped with two ovens, two built-in microwaves, two cooktops, two dishwashers, and a custom built-in full-size refrigerator/freezer unit. All appliances were incorporated while maintaining the high-end designer aesthetic the owners requested. Included in the notable features is the one-of-a-kind slab of Golden Mix granite discovered by Stacye.
