Located on the fifth floor of a Hoboken, New Jersey, brownstone, the original master bathroom had an awkward entrance and contained many unflattering features. The clients craved a spa-like room with a modern aesthetic, a spacious shower and efficient storage solutions. So they entrusted Lynn M. Masiello, CBD-CKD of LM Designs to provide them with a room that better suited their lifestyle.

Relocating the original entrance to inside the master bedroom gives the bathroom a secluded feeling. The new pocket door entry eliminates the clearance required for a hinged-door, providing much-need floor space. The shower is the spa-like focal point and contains a hinged seat—which can be folded up and out of the way. Other features include a hand-held shower, thermostatic mixing valve, ceiling-mounted "rain dome" and niches for storage.

Porcelain tile has the look of slate and offers the luxury of natural stone, without the burden of high maintenance. The wall-mounted, custom vanity in cherry veneer floats above the floor, creating lightness within the small space while still offering point-of-use storage.

Low-voltage halogen fixtures provide ambient light and sconces flank the recessed medicine cabinet, offering task lighting through cross illumination. This new master bath truly is the client's very own space efficient spa.
